Action

Thankfully, between 2002 to 2006, deforestation rates in the Amazon dropped by 60% and the area of protected land has increased by 1,000,000 square kilometres making the current total area of protected land 1,730,000 square kilometres. The efforts from conservation charities like Greenpeace, Rainforest Action Network, WWF and many other organisations are helping to protect this precious rainforest. It is also important for individuals to take action for the Amazon rainforest by volunteering for a conservation charity, supporting organisations working to protect the Amazon, awareness raising , purchasing fairtrade products, fundraising and by ensuring that products we buy are rainforest-friendly.
