The Congo rainforest spans across 6 countries in Central Africa and is the world's second largest rainforest, accounting for 18% of the world's remaining rainforests. The forest is home to some unique species including the pygmy chimpanzee and the okapi, but these species are threatened by the bushmeat trade and deforestation.
